My trip to Venice

I did a lot of things last summer. I went to the seaside twice, to one camp, I visited my friends… But here I'm going to tell you more about our one-day-travel to Venice.
I travelled there with my family by ship. It sailed out from Piran and after 3 hours we came to St. Basilico's port. My first expression was: ''It's so hot!'' It was really hot there in those days. The temperature was nearly 40˚C!
First we went to St. Marco's square. There we saw what it means if there is a lot of people on one place: music sounds, people talk, babies cry, pigeons flying… We did a sight-seeing around the square and then we went to the bridge Rialto.
Because we wanted to avoid the main street (and the shortest way to Rialto), we went around, using the narrow streets. After 40 minutes (the shortest way is 10 minutes of walking) we came to Rialto. What a surprise! There were even more people! We took some photos and crossed a bridge. On the other side there was a market. A biiiig market with souvenirs. We stopped at the first booth where we bought Venice's masks, fan and some post cards.
Then we went back to the ship – this time on marked way. By the way we ate pizzas (they weren't so expensive as other things in Venice). After 45 minutes of walking we came to our ship. It sailed out in the late afternoon. We all were tired but full of new experiences.
And for the end: A lot of people says: ''Venice is the most beautiful city on water.'' Do you know why? Because it is the only city on the water. J

My summer holidays - The Netherlands

My summer holidays were very interesting. I met a lot of new people at the seaside and in our camp; however I will write you something more about the Netherlands.

First day we drove there and we stopped in Koln to visit a huge cathedral. There are a lot of glass pictures and especially a lot of tourists. It's interesting because during the 2nd World War German enemies bombarded Köln bur they didn't bomb the cathedral.

Next day we visited village Marken which is famous for its characteristic wooden houses and we also drove along dyke to Edam. Edam is known for good cheese called Edam. We bought 3 different types of cheese and I must admit it is great.

Next day we went – according to my opinion – to the best place in our journey– Amsterdam. We woke at 8 o’clock  and went to Amsterdam by car. We parked it in a garage and went to the centre by tram. First we visited Ana Frank’s museum house. She was born on 12th June 1929 and died in early March 1945 in Bergen-Belsen in concentration camp. She moved from Germany to Amsterdam and her house is now a museum. It is very detailed, but there is one thing missing – there is no furniture! Afterwards we walked down the streets and over the bridges and visited Van Gogh museum. We saw lots of his pictures and my favourite was Cherry tree and a Skeleton that smokes. We bought some posters and relaxed in a nearby park.

On our way home I bought a pullover with Amsterdam word on it.
The third day we went cycling. We rented bikes and drove 30 km. At the end I was very tired and hungry.

Our last day we visited Volendam. It is port in North Holland. We went sightseeing and the main street is very beautiful. All the houses are the same. Houses here are usually not very tall and they are made of red bricks. We also went to the other part of town and there were lots of stalls. People were selling lots of things like waffles, pancakes, souvenirs etc. We bought some waffles and they were very delicious.

Our next stop was Delft. People there are very talented painters and they create pattern on different types of ceramics. They made lots of wonderful plates, vases etc. and one artist made a replica of Rembrandt’s Night Watch.

Our last stop was in Nordwijck. We visited ia space museum. We could see and hear almost everything about space. At first we calculated our weight on Moon, Mars, Neptune and all other planets. Then we visited spacecraft and read some facts about global warming and ozone hole.

To sum up, Holland is an outstanding country and I would like to come again to Amsterdam and visit other museums…
